“They kicked our butts!” Those were the words from Rams quarterback Marc Bulger after the game. The Cardinals seemed to feed off of last week’s disappointing loss, as Kurt Warner and the Cardinals improved to 5-3 and tightened their grip on first place in a woeful NFC West. The game was never close after the Cards scored 24 points in the second quarter to take a commanding 24-7 lead into halftime.

The Cards got on the board early in the second quarter when Antrel Rolle made his first interception of the season taking the ball in 40 yards for the score.

Warner made the most of his homecoming by throwing for 2 touchdowns and 342 yards on 23-34 passing. However, Warner’s first touchdown pass didn’t come until there were 42 seconds left in the first half when he completed a 56 yard pass to Jerheme Urban. Rams cornerback Jonathan Wade nearly intercepted the pass, but bobbled it leaving Jerheme Urban to take it all-the-way. Kurt’s second TD scoring pass came in the second as he found an open Anquan Boldin from 7 yards out.

Tim Hightower made the most of his start, rushing for 109 yards on 22 carries including a 30 yard touchdown scoring run in the second quarter.

The Rams first of two scores came in the first quarter as Marc Bulger completed an 80 yard pass to Derek Stanley. The second came on a Marc Bulger 3 yard completion to Torry Holt early in the fourth quarter.

The Cardinals don’t play again until next Monday night when the take on division foe the San Francisco 49ers(2-6) in Glendale.

One Response to ““They kicked our butts,” Cards pound Rams 34-13”

  1. it was good too see the Cardinals come away with a division win against a mediocre Rams team. This upcoming week against the 49ers will be a true test, because although the niners are part of the lower tier of teams, we still are the Cardinals and we all remember what happened when we played the Bears on Monday Night. Lets hope we don’t have to relive that ordeal again!
