It didn’t look good for the maroon and gold squad midway through the third quarter, as they trailed the lowly Huskies 16-19. However Rudy Carpenter completed his first of two touchdown passes to Michael Jones with 2:33 remaining in the third quarter and the Devils never looked back scoring two more touchdowns and a safety to secure the long-awaited victory.

Rudy Carpenter threw for 218 yards on 22/31 passing. His two touchdown passes to Michael Jones were his only of the game.

Washington quarterback Ronnie Fouch was just 13/39 passing with two interceptions. Fouch did not throw for any touchdowns, but did score one when receiver Cody Burns was able to find Fouch open for the TD on a double pass from 6 yards out.

Fouch was sacked for a safety with 5:57 left in the fourth quarter as he intentionally grounded the football. An already bad night got worse for Fouch as he was unable to complete a touchdown pass with seconds remaining in the game. Fouch had four shots at the end zone by could only fire blanks, including three to D’Andre Goodwin as he received a smattering of boos from the few fans left at Husky Stadium.

ASU was led in rushing by Keegan Herring who had 22 carries for 144 yards including a 29 yard touchdown scoring run in the fourth quarter to put the game on ice.

Arizona State kicker Thomas Weber was perfect on the night, making all three of his field goal attempts and all four of his extra point attempts.

ASU still has its slim bowl hopes alive but will need to win all three of their remaining games against Washington State, UCLA, and Arizona.
