The Sun Devils were able to score on their final drive of the game to set up a potential game-tying two point conversion. But Rudy Carpenter was unable to find an open receiver and threw a jump ball which was intercepted in the end zone. Oregon State held on to win and keep their Rose Bowl hopes alive.

The two point conversion attempt was set up by a three yard touchdown reception to tight end Andrew Pettes with 21 seconds remaining in the game. Rudy Carpenter threw for 218 yards but the last second touchdown scoring pass was his only of the game.

ASU trailed 6-7 to the Beavers at halftime, but took the lead early in the third quarter as Sean Canfield’s pass was intercepted by Troy Nolan who took it in 41 yards for the touchdown to give the Devils a 13-7 lead.

Sun Devil junior running back Shaun DeWitty rushed for 111 yards on 16 carries.

Oregon State was led by senior wide receiver Shane Morales who scored two touchdowns on just three receptions.

ASU falls to 2-6 on the season and will visit Washington next Saturday.
